I
downloaded my 1099-B information into my tax return, but TurboTax indicates
that average cost basis information was not provided. What should I
do?
Your cost basis is the price you paid for shares, including any sales
charges, and is used to determine whether you have a capital gain or
loss on shares that you exchange or redeem. If you did not exchange
or redeem any shares during the year, you will not have a cost basis.
Refer to your IRS Form 1099-B Proceeds From Redemption and Exchange Transactions
to determine if average cost basis information applies to your
account(s). The form was included in the year-end tax mailing that you
received from Delaware Investments. If IRS Form 1099-B reports average cost
basis information, you will need to manually input this information
into your tax return. Due to a systems limitation, Instant Data Entry
is currently unable to import this information to your tax returns.
If you cannot find your IRS Form 1099-B or if you have any questions, contact
our Shareholder Service Center at 800 523-1918. Representatives
are available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern time.
I took a distribution from a Coverdell Education Savings Account but did not get the 1099-Q information. Why was this not included?
IRS Form 1099-Q is not currently available for Instant Data Entry. You will need to manually input this information into your tax return. If you cannot find your form 1099-Q or if you have any questions, contact our Shareholder Service Center at 800 523-1918. Representatives are available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern time.
