ACTUARIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Actuarial Development Program
Our Actuarial Development Program is unsurpassed in promoting and encouraging actuarial exam success. The work/study program promotes the development of actuarial, technical, management and leadership skills, as well as promotes rapid actuarial exam progress. As a student in the program, you will begin your career in a series of two-year rotations that span a wide variety of business units, functions and locations.
Students receive up to 175 hours of company time to study per exam sitting. Lincoln Financial Group purchases required exam materials and pays exam fees in advance for each actuarial student in the program.
We usually hire between six and ten new students each year. Preferred majors include math/actuarial science, statistics, or business/economics. Other desired credentials for recent graduates are 1 to 2 SOA exams, summer actuarial internship experience, and a strong academic record.
Actuarial positions in our Fort Wayne, Indiana, location are primarily focused on financial reporting and valuation while positions in our Hartford, Connecticut, and Greensboro, North Carolina, locations are primarily focused on product development and pricing of life and annuity products. The actuarial positions in Omaha, Nebraska, are focused on the group protection market. Actuarial rotations are also available in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and these positions are primarily in the investment area.
We pay competitive salaries commensurate with exam progress and prior experience. Raises are given for exams passed between initial offer and start date. Lincoln Financial Group offers full benefit programs to all employees. Depending on the location of a new hire's former residence, we may offer relocation assistance.

Summer Actuarial Internship Program
This program provides an opportunity for college students to learn more about an actuarial career, and about Lincoln Financial Group and its actuarial program. Additionally, it allows Lincoln Financial Group to build relationships with high quality student interns to meet our future needs for actuarial students.
Each summer the program has interns working in Fort Wayne, Hartford, Greensboro, Omaha and Philadelphia.
The process of identifying summer intern candidates occurs in the late Fall through February time frame. Each student's needs and university schedule determines the starting and ending dates of the internship.
Summer interns receive a salary that reflects years of school completed, actuarial exams passed and previous summer actuarial experience. Exams passed from the May sitting will result in a pay increase effective upon notice of successful passing of exam. Housing allowances or subsidized campus housing is provided.
A series of weekly meetings provide summer interns with a chance to meet and hear from actuaries from around the company and from various levels, including senior management. Social activities also are planned.
