About Fort Wayne's Charitable Contributions Committee

The Lincoln Financial Foundation, established in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1962, is based on the premise that the corporation has responsibilities as a socially responsible corporate citizen and that goes hand-in-hand with charitable giving to enhance the quality of life in communities where its employees live and work.

The Charitable Contributions Committee is dedicated to serving the needs of Allen County, specifically in the areas of arts, education/workforce development, and human services. Through grantmaking in these focus areas, the Committee seeks to improve the quality of life in the community and enhance the organizational capacity of nonprofit organizations in the areas of program efficiencies, financial effectiveness, board governance, and staff development. The Committee gives full consideration to nonprofit organizations that meet the foundation's guidelines and exemplify fairness, diversity, fiscal prudence, and sound business procedures. Organizations must exhibit a commitment to their mission, as well as diversity in their board membership. They must have demonstrated success in meeting the needs of their constituents with measurable outcomes and have consistently delivered these results over time.

Grantee Spotlight

Northeast Indiana Public Radio
Lincoln Financial Foundation made a major grant to support Northeast Indiana Public Radio's Campaign for the Classics.

The grant was used to broaden access to classical music by helping Northeast Indiana Public Radio (NIPR) purchase 94.1 FM, which will improve the audio quality of classical music station WBNI and expand its coverage area over 94.1 FM's stronger signal. This will extend the reach of classical programs to more than 450,000 new people in Fort Wayne and neighboring communities such as Wabash, Bluffton, Columbia City, Decatur, Huntington, and North Manchester, who do not currently have adequate signal reception.

"Lincoln Financial Foundation has always been a strong partner of our two public radio stations, WBNI and WBOI," said NIPR General Manager Bruce Haines. "This generous gift furthers our efforts to preserve a frequency on the FM dial that provides fine arts programming our region can enjoy now and into the future. This campaign advances NIPR's mission to engage our community with content that enriches the human experience."
