Fort Wayne, with a population of 203,000, lies in
the northern portion of Indiana. Money magazine
calls Fort Wayne one of the premier places to
live in America. The cost of living is 9% below

degrees in the summer and 16-36 degrees in the
winter.

The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, established in
1965, occupies 43 acres of land and is home to over
1,000 animal species. Visitors to the zoo total over
1/2 million each year. New York Times (1995)
named it as one of the five best zoos in the country,
"designed with children in mind." Unique features
include the African Veldt, Indonesian Rainforest,
Australian Adventure, and the original Central Zoo.

fun, you may consider taking the family to Science Central. You and your family can
investigate, discover, explore, and learn at Science
Central.
Outdoor activities can be enjoyed
in the 80 city public parks. In addition, within an
hour of Fort Wayne can be found over 300 lakes and a
number of state parts. If you would rather enjoy the
beauty of nature indoors, the Foellinger-Freimann
Botanical Conservatory hosts three distinct gardens
where kids of all ages can learn about plants and how
they grow.
If you enjoy shopping, Fort Wayne
is home to one of Indiana's largest indoor shopping
malls, Glenbrook Square. Here you
can find a collection of over 175 fine stores, the
brand names and labels you demand, and a variety of
dining options. Jefferson Pointe is Fort Wayne's
newest shopping center and includes a 20-screen theatre
complex with stadium-style seating.

Fort Wayne offers many

find it all here. The Embassy Centre Philharmonic hosts
a 90-piece symphony. The Civic Theater, Performing Arts
Center, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and Youth Theatre
offer a variety of entertainments. The Lincoln Museum boasts the largest
collection of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia in the
country.
Colleges and Universities
Several colleges and universities
found in and around Fort Wayne offer continuing
education programs, certificates, associate's,
bachelor's and master's degrees. Some of the larger
universities include Indiana University-Purdue
University of Fort Wayne, Ivy Tech State College, University of Saint Francis, and Indiana
