Welcome to The University of North Carolina Optional Retirement Program website that Lincoln Financial Group created for eligible University of North Carolina employees.

The University of North Carolina Optional Retirement Program (ORP) is an alternative to the North Carolina Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). This website provides basic information on key features, introduces you to the Lincoln Alliance Program, and instructs you on how to enroll or make changes to your account with Lincoln Financial Group, an authorized ORP carrier.

On January 1, 2015 UNC will be changing from four (4) ORP Retirement Plan investment providers to two (2) companies, Fidelity and TIAA. Until then, your contributions will continue to be directed into your retirement plan at Lincoln Financial, and we will continue to provide customized financial planning guidance to help you realize your retirement goals and assist you with making the best decisions for your account.

If your account is invested in the Lincoln Multi-Fund ®, or if you move your account to the Lincoln Multi-Fund before January 1, 2015, You do not have to transfer your account to one of the two providers. Because your investment in the Lincoln Multi-Fund is an "individual contract" and not a group annuity, you can remain invested in the Lincoln Multi-Fund as long as you wish.

For more information on how this affects your Lincoln Account, please refer to this letter, sent earlier this year.

The information in this website is general in nature and may be subject to change. Neither Lincoln Financial Group nor any of its agents can give tax or legal advice. Applicable laws and regulations are complex and subject to change. For legal and tax advice concerning your particular situation, please consult your attorney or tax professional.

Lincoln representatives are available to help you with information regarding the University Programs, as are registered representatives of Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp.

Annuities are issued by The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, Fort Wayne, IN. Mutual funds and variable annuities are offered through Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp., a broker-dealer and registered investment advisor, member SIPC, 1300 South Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN.

Lincoln Financial Group, in conjunction with the University of North Carolina, has provided this website as a service to you, an employee (past or present) of the University of North Carolina. This website is not meant to take the place of your Summary Plan Documents or your Human Resources Department.
