LINCOLN SMARTSECURITY® ADVANTAGE
for wealth preservation and growth potential.
You know that you need to save for retirement, even if you're not sure when you plan to retire, or how much income you'll need when you do. But you do know that while you are saving, you want to be sure that your retirement funds are protected. A variable annuity can help provide retirement security by exposing your savings to potential growth with options for protection.
Lincoln SmartSecurity®Advantage is an optional benefit available for an additional charge through Lincoln variable annuities. It allows you to take advantage of growth potential without the risk of market volatility, and select a payment plan that's right for you.
Lincoln SmartSecurity®Advantage has two key parts:
- Principal protection- If your account value doesn't grow or falls to $0, your principal investment, also known as your Guaranteed Amount, will be returned to you (adjusted for withdrawals) through annual payments.
- Growth protection- Your Guaranteed Amount will be stepped up to the account value, if higher, every year. There are annual withdrawals of up to 5% for 20 years. If you are age 65 or older at the time of your first withdrawal, you may receive 5% for the rest of your life. If not, withdrawals will last until your Guaranteed Amount is returned.
This feature may not be available for election with certain bonus products.
NOTE: Lincoln SmartSecurity® Advantage is available for an additional cost of 0.85% (single life) or 1.00% (joint life), of the Guaranteed Amount, depending on which option you choose. The expense of annuity benefits should be considered carefully against financial needs and goals. Withdrawals will impact the account value and death benefit, and are subject to ordinary income tax to the extent of gain. A federal 10% tax penalty may apply to withdrawals taken prior to age 59 1/2.
Election of this feature will restrict certain subaccounts.
