Isaiah Tidwell is retired from Wachovia Bank where he served as executive vice president and director of Wealth Management Operations in Georgia.
Tidwell’s career with Wachovia started in 1972 when he joined the bank's Charlotte office as a commercial bank trainee. He was promoted to corporate banking officer in 1975 and assistant vice president in 1976. In 1977, he was named General Loan Administration Officer and promoted to vice president in the bank's Winston Salem Office. Then in 1989 he was promoted to office executive for the Winston Salem Office, and in late 1990 he was elected regional vice president and area executive for the Charlotte Office. He later served as the Southern regional executive and was promoted to executive vice president in 1996. Tidwell was named president of Georgia Banking in 1999.
Prior to his career with Wachovia, Tidwell was employed in various accounting and financial positions with Celanese Corporation.
A native of Charlotte, Tidwell received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1967 from North Carolina Central University and a master’s degree in business administration in 1980 from Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University.
Tidwell has been heavily involved in numerous community and civic organizations in Charlotte, Winston Salem and Atlanta. He is a Life Member of North Carolina Central University Alumni Association, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and is a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Friendship Baptist Church.
Tidwell is a former trustee of Davidson College and the Southern Education Foundation. He formerly served on the boards of Harris Teeter Supermarkets, Inc., Snyder's-Lance, Inc., The Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, the Atlanta Rotary Club, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and Woodruff Arts Center.
