Legacy events & awards
In 2015, the Greensboro Historical Museum in Greensboro, N.C., held a special exhibit titled Emancipation Proclamation: Voices to Freedom.
The highlight of this four-week exhibit was the presentation of an original 1864 edition of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln, on loan from the Lincoln Foundation Collection of the Indiana State Museum.
Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves; and … cannot long retain it.
As part of Lincoln's Legacy initiative, the Lincoln Financial Foundation arranged for this rare document and other Lincoln artifacts, including an inkwell and images from the Lincoln family album, to be loaned to the Greensboro Historical Museum for the exhibit.
Congratulations to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, our third Lincoln’s Legacy Award winner! To learn more about their activities in their community, please visit their website .

About Lincoln’s Legacy Award
Through Lincoln's Legacy Award, Lincoln Financial Group recognizes and invests in nonprofit organizations whose principles and programs advance Abraham Lincoln's legacy of freedom and opportunity through education. A $50,000 award was presented each year of Lincoln's Legacy initiative. This is one way we support organizations that expand opportunities for children and their families to live greater lives, as well as inspire the hopes and dreams of today’s children and future generations to come.
