The Friends ProgramConcord, New Hampshire
The Friends Program strengthens communities by building relationships that empower people, encourage community service and restore faith in the human spirit.
Preparing volunteers for community service
Founded in 1975, The Friends Program recruits, trains and manages volunteers to meet community needs. Its programs benefit New Hampshire’s most vulnerable groups—homeless families, at-risk youth and the elderly.
Through four programs, Friends mobilizes more than 800 volunteers who annually serve 4,500 children, families, seniors and people living with disabilities. The organization provides youth mentoring and emergency family housing, and fulfills the needs of seniors and retired people so they can contribute to the community.
Friends’ volunteers provide approximately 200,000 hours of service annually.
